The project on Petra Kočića Street involves the reconstruction and extension of an existing free-standing residential building B+S+Gf+2+Rf, comprising four residential units, with technical spaces and a garage located on the underground level.
The design is based on absolute respect for the protected building, its ambient value, and historical significance. The concept integrates old and new, where a contemporary intervention enhances the existing structure without visual conflict.
The extension follows the vertical articulation and roof geometry of the original building, ensuring harmonious integration into the context. The composition of solid surfaces and openings emphasizes the historic structure while maintaining a balanced architectural dialogue.
The relationship between old and new is articulated through a contemporary reinterpretation of the pilaster fluting as a selectively applied double façade of perforated metal panels, allowing subtle ambient lighting and preserved privacy.
The façade combines travertine stone, perforated metal, and glass, achieving continuity in materiality, rhythm, and vertical proportions while introducing a clearly defined contemporary layer.
The design solution represents a balanced synthesis of heritage preservation and contemporary architectural expression, demonstrating the potential for a discreet yet clearly articulated intervention within a culturally and contextually significant environment.
