Residential and commercial building CD 46 was designed by interventions regarding reconstruction, adaptation, integration and extension of the existing corner building built at the beginning of the 20th century in the spirit of the academicism era, with affirmation of both its high-floor design features and shape of plastic elements on the facade applied in recognizable rhythmic system, and painted in relationships within the tract volumes placed along street directions influenced by tracts.
Through integration with the existing building and immediate environment, with affirmation of the intersection as urban motif, the building was designed as interpolated, two sides oriented corner building with 2 underground floors + ground floor + 7 above-ground floors + 1 detached floor structure, looking at Cara Dušana and Višnjićeva streets.
By functional arrangement of units within the existing building, which is reconstructed, adapted and finally integrated into newly designed body in its basic positional dimensions, by preserving established mass relations of the existing building as dominant, the newly designed unit consistently reaffirms, in addition to its design, original organization of functional units by their comparative, equally significant orientation towards both streets touching it.
The extended part of the newly designed unit, with two-way movement of the body towards the interior of the plot, especially highlighted in the contact zones of existing and newly designed floors, created a unique, multi-layered residential and commercial building with significant spatial capacities, in such a way that urban function of dwelling determined the basic or prevailing purpose of the building that consists of large number of residential units with diverse functional and content characteristics and two-floor business and commercial spaces intended for external use.
Basic purpose of the building, in addition to the ground floor, is functionally supported by 2 (two) underground levels provided for garages and technological equipment zones.
