The contact between the heritage and the contemporary in architecture is always a challenge, especially when it is necessary to fit two buildings that bear the stamp of their time in the very center of the city, at the corner of Gospodar Jovanova and Knjeginje Ljubice streets in Dorćol. This is a particularly complex task when the architectural design includes the reconstruction, adaptation and extension of an existing, protected building, the authenticity of which should be preserved and emphasized through the architecture of the new building with which it forms an inseparable connection.
Respecting the context and time of creation of the existing buildings, which shape the identity of the central city core, the modern designed building responds to all challenges. It dominates the space, but fits harmoniously into the existing context as an angular, double-sided residential building, organized through nine carefully designed residential units.
The integration of modern architectural design with the preservation of historical values contributes to the creation of a harmonious and aesthetically attractive urban space.
